Patrick Brown has been named the new Travis County
(Austin) Chief Appraiser. The Board of Directors for the Travis
County Appraisal District chose Brown to succeed Art Corey, who
will retire at the end of December following 19 years on the
job.
Brown has been training with Corey since
November to ensure a smooth transition. He was formerly the
Director of Appraisal at the Williamson Central Appraisal
District and has more than 20 years experience in real estate
including seven years as a Travis County appraiser.
One of his main goals as the new Travis County
Chief Appraiser will be to foster open communication with
taxpayers. Brown told The Daily Texan, “An important thing for
the appraisal district is to let the public access the databases
and allow the district and the people to have an exchange of
information.”
