Cook County Assessment Notices & Appeals
By Bob Tivnan, Chicago

<< Printable Version (.PDF)

Assessment notices are being mailed following the 2007 triennial reassessment of the northern suburban townships of Cook County, Illinois. Appeal opportunities exist in all townships, regardless of whether a reassessment was conducted this year. If the deadline has passed to appeal to the assessor, taxpayers may take their appeal directly to the Board of Review.

Meanwhile, second installment tax bills, which reconcile taxes paid for 2006, have been delayed. Typically, second installment bills are due in early September. However, last year’s reassessment of the city of Chicago has put the mailings behind schedule. Officials estimate tax bills may not be due until October or November.
