W. Ken Parsons

Senior Vice President, Group Operating Officer - South

Mr. Parsons was formally educated in business at the University of North Texas, and has more than 40 years experience in the property tax industry. He joined the POER Company in 1978, and currently serves on the POER Company’s Executive Committee with responsibility for all company activities in the southwestern United States, which includes Texas, Arkansas, Kansas, Louisiana, Mississippi, Missouri, New Mexico and Oklahoma.

He is a Senior Certified Member of the Texas Association of Property Tax Professionals, Past President of the Organization and a Charter Board member. He also serves as a member of the Advisory Council for the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation, which governs the tax industry in the state. He is licensed by the State of Texas as a Senior Property Tax Consultant, and is a member of various national tax and business organizations including the Institute for Professionals in Taxation, the International Association of Assessing Officers and the Texas Association of Assessing Officers.

Before joining the firm, he was the Deputy Tax Assessor for the City of Arlington, Texas and the Arlington Independent School District. As Assessor, he earned designations as a Certified Texas Assessor (CTA) and Registered Professional Assessor (RPA) in the State of Texas.

Mr. Parsons has completed numerous appraisal and tax law courses provided by national appraisal organizations and universities. He has appeared as a guest lecturer at a number of industry conferences, and directed training and educational seminars for various tax organizations. He has also authored many articles on the topic of property taxes for industry publications.
