Marvin F. Poer, who founded Marvin F. Poer and Company in 1964, earned a B.B.A. degree from the University of North Texas.  He is a licensed Texas Real Estate Broker, a Certified Member of the Institute for Professionals in Taxation (CMI), a member of the National Multi Housing Council, and a Senior Certified Member of the Texas Association of Property Tax Professionals. Mr. Poer was the founder of the National Council of Property Taxation and served as the organization's first President.

Mr. Poer has achieved success with a consistent vision for the property tax consulting industry and a commitment to hard work on behalf of his clients. From its modest beginnings, the POER Company has grown to become the largest independent property tax consulting firm in America, serving more than 2,500 clients from sixteen offices.

Mr. Poer's introduction to property tax consulting came when he joined Mobil Oil Corporation.  He handled Mobil's ad valorem tax responsibilities for producing oil and gas properties and other petroleum assets for nine years. From handling corporate property taxes, he realized the tremendous opportunity for development of a major tax consulting company that would provide professional services of the highest caliber on a national scope.

He is a member of various state tax assessing officers' organizations, the International Association of Assessing Officers, and other real estate and industry organizations.  He has completed real estate appraisal and graduate management courses at Southern Methodist University.
